Default need help...AMP keeps going in protective mode!!!

i hooked my amp up (jensen 4 channel 400 watt) to my rear speakers (pioneer 6.5s with 160 watts each) and everytime i turn the volume up past like 15 my amp goes into protective mode, if i turn the volume back down, it turns on again. (15 on my deck is really low) I've messed with all the setting and controls and nothing allows me to turn it up any louder. My amp is not overheating. Anyone know what the problem could be??? thanks

disconnect the speakers.. turn it on and turn up the volume.. if it goes up without going into protective mode perhaps there is a wiring crossing someplace.

thanks, i'll try unhooking the speaker and turning the volume up to see what happens with the protect light. as for my gain setting, no its not at full blast, its at minimum actually, and if i set it higher it amp goes into protective mode...any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks..

What impedance are the speakers? How do you have it wired? I don't imagine that Jensen amp is stable at anything less than a 4 Ohm load...

It's gotta be a wiring problem. I have had tons of Jensen products. (hey , they're good for the money) I have never seen a Jensen amp do this. If anything they just burn out. Hell I still have one in my closet from like 3 years ago! I tested some speakers with it the other day with no problem. Gotta be wiring issue.

well i decided to mess with my amp today to see if i could fix the problem. first i unhooked the speakers and then turned the volume up to see if the protective light would go on, it didnt so that told me my amp was fine. I reconnected it to the batery to try and make a more secure connection. then i couldnt think what else could be wrong, so i changed the speakers from the A/B channels to the C/D channels....tested it out and they worked fine! so im not sure if something is wrong with the A/B channels or if when i switched them i just made sure the wires were connected more securely or what. anyone have any ideas? I wouldnt care if the A/B channels werent working except that i plan to hook my front speakers up to this amp too, so if they dont work then i have a problem. any help/ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. thanks guys
