My opinion of Compustar
I installed a 900fm in my truck today.
A few comments about it.
They are where Clifford or DEI was 10 years ago.
Their valet mode has to be the easiest thing for a theif to bypass. Tap the ignition wire 5 times and it enters valet.
Tach learn button is located on the alarm. If you ever need to relearn the tach you will have to tear the car apart again to access the alarm.
Instructions are horrible!!
Shock sensor is kinda cheesy
Antenna is goofy looking who would stick that in their window?
No dome light activation for manual equiped cars.
Led wire has no disconnect at the LED. This is important if it's installed in a location that will need to be removed in the future. Like for adding a stereo.
Everything is manually wired. Reminds me of old clifford and DEI alarms.
If I was a retailer you better get smokin deals because your installers will be less efficient. I would pressure these guys on this point and point out how installer freindly DEI products are.
If you can get past all this and have a fairly decent install its a pretty good product.
They have some catching up to do. Nothing really trully innovative that makes them stand out. I gladly would buy another. Mainly to support a different vendor then DEI. Since DEI bought everything out there has been no true innovation. Clifford used to be the leader in that IMO.

Excellent review. I've found that Compustar are good ffrom the end users point of view (except that they'll be paying for extra parts and labor), and bad from the installers point of view. The only good thing I can say about their line of alarms is that they have great range.
I'm not completely satisfied with DEI products either. Somewhere between the Viper 791XV and the Viper 5000 is a damn good alarm. I'd like to see safe remote start for manual transmission, multiple ports for adding sensors each with their own zone and programmable icon, (also, the DEI 507M should come with a plug connector), a smaller brain box and relay satellite (8 gauge wires are overkill) with a longer ribbon cable, even better range, etc etc etc.
