Is my amp dead ?
I have 2 amps in my car. The first one is for the 2 subs and the 2nd is a 4 channel amp for the speakers. Recently while listening to my radio the other day my speakers goes off all of a sudden, but I can still hear the bass from my subs (all i could hear are the subs). After a few minutes i hear a single poping sound then the music came back from my speakers. Then a few minutes later it stopped, then on, then off...you get the idea. Each on and off intervals last about 15-30 minutes.
What I think is wrong is that the amp for the speakers has insufficient power. But I don't think that makes sense because when I listen to my radio at moderate/low volume the same thing happens. If this is the case then I think a 1 or 2 farad capacitor will do the trick.
The 2nd thing that could be wrong with my 2nd amp (speakers)is that it's broken. But if it's broken then why does it work here and there. If it's broken then it should stop working all together.
My 3rd guess is that the wires are loose. But I rechecked all the wires and they seemed fine and holds up very well.
Some one said that this occurs cause my amp is overheating. It doesn't make sense because if it overheats both of them must overheat together.
Here's a pic of the 2nd amp and the rear of subs box if that helps. Please give me some advice on the problems with my amp.

whoaaa, Needs a little work there, but besides the point. Since I see that you have that performance technique amp What kind of distrubstion block is that. I have seen many of the cheap ones fail. Look there first. They just have bad connections and it is real easy over looked. also don't expect to much from thoses amps as the power is over rated, But can sound good if you match it rms to some speakers in its range.
heres a few things to do. check the wiring, fuses, ground then remove the filters from the amp. if all fails then go to a shop or best buy to get it tested. good lucks. also do some cleaning back there and get a better amp.

does your car have engine noise, is that why you have those RCA filters? if so its probably caused by a ground loop, check ur grounds. also, i see everything is ran together but idk if its that way through the whole car. keep the RCAs and the power wires away from eachother, that can cause noise also.

Also I see that you have 2 power wires running to the fused dist block. You do have a fuse right after the battery terminal also, dont you? just making sure if you do or dont

What do you mean by the distributor block? Do you mean those two cheap rca ground loop? It's just a generic ground loop but it work in filtering noise.

The first thing I would try is change the fuse in the fuse/distribution block, just switch them around, yes I know they look good, but switch them around to be sure, the one for the 4ch amp may be defective.
If that makes no diff. then do as romoracing suggests, check your connections, pay very close attention to the ground for the amp, the other thing I would check for is a short is the speaker leads or the speakers terminals, it could be the amps protection circuit is kicking in.

Thanks. will check it morrow and report my findings
