Default light wiring

I need to figure out how to for one, what wire to look for to get my boost guage to light up whenever the parking lights are on and how to get the rubber boot off where the wriing harness is to get through the firewall. This is the only forum i could think of to ask this question. Thanks for any help.

Your boost gauge, is it a + input? Meaning the wire the gauge needs to be hooked up to is a + wire that goes hot when the lights are on?

If yes,

You'll need a test light,
go to your fuse panel, there are some blade connectors near the fuse panel
ground the aligator clip
and touch the test light to one of the blade connectors, turn on the parking lights. the blad connector that goes hot when you turn on your parking lights is the wire that you connect to the boost gauge to light up when the parking lights are on.
