I want to put some bass in my 95 gsr but I dont want to add alot of weight what should I do? I heard of some sub that was designed that has a magnesium magnet or something and is like a third the weight of a normal sub anyone heard of this?

I havn't heard of those before..

check out IDQ's.. http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com

Very nice subs, pretty cheap some places. I think they are light, they are by no means heavy.

May also want to look into a fiberglass enclosure....if done right, can be lighter than wooden ones, but if built pretty and flashy, often weigh more.

BTW in order to get the box out, the STB had to come off first.

But was removeable for racing. Only took 10 minutes.

you didnt have to put fiberglass on the bottom dude. you posted this or someone poted this pic in my post. in the new euro lowrider they show you how to do it and i'm gonna try. you only need to glass the top

if you want a good seal and box to come out of car, must fiberglass the bottom.

the box you see there had 2.7-2.8 cubic feet. Bow with subs/amps weight over 100 lbs. It was fun wrestling it in and out.

Yes I used MDF (anything else?) for the sides and top plates. I also braced the insides like a ****.

Best part, the resin and hardener were FREE! I used about 1.5 gallons of resin and no idea how much cloth.

100 pounds?? thats crazy

my old box 3/4" mdf 2.2 cubic feet with 2 jl 12W0 was around 60 pounds
i was hoping to get down to more like 25-30 pounds with a single 12 setup and a glassed box

have you looked into the Bazooka bass tubes? they come amplified and they can be taken out really easy! and they arent as bulky as the other boxed subs..but, this is only my opinion!!!

unless they changed their design (i dunno havent looked at the new bazooka tubes/subs) they suck... paper cones, and dont provide much hit.. my friend wanted to try his bazooka with my PPI PC21400.. needless to say.. you guys can guess the output hehe.. we replaced his paper woofer with a rockford sub..it sounds way better..
