Default keyless entry remote help.

So I bought my car not to long ago and it had a acura alarm/keyless entry installed. the alarm and keyless entry were installed after the car was bought they were not factory. (i dont think) At first i could get it to work if i pressed the button on the remote real hard, and now it is not working at all could this be because of the remote. I put a new battery in it and still the same thing. What else could it be everything was working fine when i had it working. Do I just need to go buy a new remote and install my chip in it?

Yes, it is probably the remote, it probably has a collapsed switch, " At first i could get it to work if i pressed the button on the remote real hard" sure sigh of a collapsed switch 94

so where can i get a new remote? does it have to be the same one as the one I have or can i get one that has more functions or get a newer one? Right now all mine does is lock/unlock while enabling/disabling the alarm at the same time one button. Is there a way for me to get a 2 or 3 button remote?

Sounds like an Alpine, but I need to see what the remote looks like, and are there any model numbers on it? 94

The Alpine remote model numbers are always 84** sometimes 84**A, the last two numbers and the A is the alarm it will work with. 94

Yea, thats an Alpine remote, you can probably use a SEC-8447, 8448, 8448A, or the 8481, would be nice if you could find one, and try your rom chip in it and see if it works, before you buy one, Alpine has 5 or 6 other rom chip type remotes, all the Alpine remotes will have more then one button, but you will not be able to use them. 94

The numbers on your remote are Honda P/N, you can NOT get the other buttons to work, the outputs for them are in the alarm brain, and the made for Honda/Acura alarm will not have them
As to where you can get the remotes, I would go to Alpine dealers and hope they have one of the remotes on hand, and will let you install your chip and try it, as for price, that will depend on what remote and how bad they want to unload it, full retail price, in Canada, range from $40 to $140 http://search.ebay.ca/alarm-re...omZR8 I found this 8448A for $6 94

BTW you can also try here http://www.keylessride.com or http://www.remotesunlimited.com

sweet thats waht i thought. Will I need to replace all the senssors and stuff like that? Is the install hard or pretty easy? Also will the keyless entry work good on an aftermarket alarm? And I know this has probably been asked a lot but whats a decent alarm that doesnt cost too much money like maybe around $100. My friend has a prestiege are those any good? Also thanks FCM for being an awesome help and not being a dick I appreciate it.

The alarm you get will have sen. with it and yes Prestiege is an Audiovox product and they are above average http://www.audiovox.com you can also get some DEI alarms at about $100 http://www.dei.com.
As for how easy or hard they are to install, for me, easy as cake, for you, I have no idea if you can solder and aren't to intimidated by a cars 12V wiring you should have very few problems, I don't think you mentioned the year of your teg but here is the tag in sheet for a 3rd gen ted http://www.bulldogsecurity.com...s.htm

cool cool, I have a 92 teg. Ya I have a pretty decent amount of electrical knowledge, from working as an electrician. Never have really soldered (only a little on copper pipe). But anyways I think I am going to get a new alarm here before too long. What features should I make sure it has?

What features, will depend on what you want it to do, most alarms now a days, [even basic ones] will come with inputs for pos. or neg. door triggers, a hood and trunk/hatch trigger, some kind of dual stage sen, [impact on most], door lock outputs, [for keyless entry] and at least one EXT ouput, [can be used for things like trunk/hatch release] you can get a unit like this for under $100.
As you spend more $$$ you will get more features and capabilities, all the way to 2way pager type, alarm/remote starts with a lot of range and all sorts of features. 94
