Default K wire in VW beetle

After installing an after market radio in the GF's car it is throwing a CEL. The scanner can't communicate and I have been told that I need to do something with the "K wire" which, from my understanding should be the blue wire that connects two terminals on the harness. Do I need to just cut the wire?

if you used an adapter harness for the V-dub just remove (or rather disconnect)
the blue and blue/white wires on the adapter harness and insulate it. You should be
fine
