Default JL Audio Sub

I am looking at getting a sub for my 98 integra. A local store has both the 10 inch W6 and W7 in stock. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or opinions on these subs. I would jsut buy the premade box and the 500/1 amp to power it.

The JL lineup, in my experience, is not 'loud' if that is the intention. However, the JL Audio subwoofers do reproduce bass accurately, and in the ten inch variant will help fill in the lows on non-rap music especially, such a guitar and drum beats. They of course work well for rap as well, but what is your target music?

Default jls ar good

my personal prefrecnce is JLs are one of the best speakers you can buy and as long as your running the right ohms with the correct volume box it will sound damn good. just dont over pay for them if your looken to buy them from a store it gonna cost you alot more than over the internet just search around and i bet you can find them for about a 100 cheaper.

I am not looking to have some ground pounding pass. I just want it to feel solid when I listen to music. I got my components put it and the low end just feels lacking. I listen to all kinds of music and would like a clean sounding sub. Yea buying from the store would cost more but I am kind of leaning towards it in case I have any warranty issues.

Just kind of on wondering if I want to lose the trunk space...=P.

Yeah, JL will definitely fill those lows for you.
As far as trunk space, you're just running 1 of them yeah? It won't be too horrid, can be shoved over to the side or something. I mount my amplifiers next to spare tire depending on their size.

$450+ for a sub and you're going to get a pre-fabbed box? I'd highly recommend getting a custom box built to spec for which ever sub you get.

I thought the box it came with would be decent? Was going to try to get this and the amp for around 800 (hopefully).

Go with the 10W7 in the JL Audio box, [HO110R-W7] they are a very good combo...
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_e...u=1&page_id=18
The 500/1 will work, although a 1000/1 will work better.

If you go with the 10W6, get the JL Audio CVS110RG-W6V2...

The 500/1 will be perfect. 94

yea that sub can come with a prefab box, but its not like any other prefab box you just go pick up at a local audio store, the box he is referring to was Built just for that model sub, so it is a good matched combo, and i believe you get a longer warranty using there box, i know you do with there wires.

JL is a good sub, i had a pair of 10w3v2's, they were dual 6ohm (cause i planned on a 3 subs setup) and those subs sounded great, that was the first subs i ever competed in usaci with, they were pretty nice, definately a great daily driver sub!

So best bet for a 2 door hatch running a 500/1 would be the pro wedge? Sorry for all the questions, the last "sub" I had was the Infinity Basslink, lol.

Hey I have a question. I am planning on getting a 10w7 for christmas and I am planning on take out my back seats and putting down some MDF board with carpet on top for my whole rear section of the car. But what I wanted to know is if I put the sub where the spare tire is so it sits flush with the board would it sounds good?

It would look something like this and a sub flush in the floor where the spare tire would be.

The 10W6 in the pro wedge box will be cheaper, take up less room and work very well with the smaller/cheaper 500/1 amp. 94

Not sure if you can get it flush with the floor pan, [a W7 is a "deep" sub] and you will need more then just a sheet of MDF over the spare tire well, you will need to do some fiberglassing to make a proper cabinet. 94

x2 go with the w6 its one of the best sound quality subs out there. and by the sounds thats what your looking for. the w7 high output setup fcm was talking about gets loud but tends to sound really muddy..

Damn that is what I was trying to stay away from i dont really want fiberglass. So I will just throw a box and the w7 in the hatch and call it a day unless you guys have some ideas? That would be great!!!!!!

So I ended up with a 8w7 and an earlier version 500/1 amp. Any tips on wiring? Right now I just connected the preamp outputs to a 500/1 then used some radio shack rcas to connect from the 500/1 to the 300/4. And made some crappy speaker cables with a roll of speaker wire from radio shack. Going to bring it in to a local shop for tips tomorrow.

I bought a rocksford terminal block with fuses. I read that power and ground wires should be the same gauge? Right now I have a bigger wire going into the block and two smaller ones coming out. The ground on the 500/1 is the same small wire but the ground on the 300/4 is a larger one. Should I switch them all to the larger gauge wire? Larger as in the fatter one.

Here is a pic of the wiring. Any help/advice would be appreciated. had to solder more wire onto the left ground wire since it wasn't long enough, lol...

Overpriced, overrated and lame..
JL is a rip.
I have two 12" W7's.
Payed a fortune for them and they were, OK.
Sounded good, but not as good as what i got now, and my current costed half the price.

Look into things like, alpine type-r, kicker L5 and L7, Fi BL and BTL(only on fi car audio.com) etc.

What did you use to power the W7s?
