Default I've been robbed!!!

This morning I walked out to my car to go to work and I was horrorfied to see that my teal '95 Civic EX had been broken into!
I recieved my new Pioneer Deh-P7200 in the mail on Monday (Jan. 27th) and I was so excied to finally get to listen to my CDs again. So, I ran to the store and bought the wiring harness adapter. I went out in the cold and the dark and installed the beautiful deck because I was too excided to wait. It went in without a hitch. I pressed the on button and Boom, the screen lit up with animations and cartoons, it was awesome! I drove to my girlfriend's house to show her and she loved it. I got home that nite at about 12:00AM. I got my two MTX 10's and my amp and put them in my trunck so all I had to do was wire them up at work. I parked in front of the house, removed the faceplate, put it in the glovebox (bad idea), loocked the doors, went in the house, and went to sleep. I woke up this morning (Tues.28th) and went out to my car, I couldn't wait to show my new gear to my friends, and was horrified to see that my door handle had bee pryed, my dash trim was in peices on the floor, and my radio, amp, and subs were all gone! (but my Cds weren't?!)
After work today I filed a police report and they said to check the local pawn shops, and that they would do what they could. I called my insurence agent only to find out that the lady that I set up my Civic with didn't do as I asked and cover me against fire, theft, and vandolisim.
So I now have nothing. I can't unlock my door from the driver's side, my heat doesn't work, my dash is broken in pieces, I have no music, and I'm all on my own.
I feel so angry, sad, hurt, violated, violent, and frustrated! So, if anybody knows how to install/remove the dash trim that goes around the radio, heater, over the steering wheel, and down the other side, And how to replace the door handle please let me know. Any suggestions about what to dor and how to keep them out please e-mail me.

(P.S.) I bought a security system for it a couple of months ago but my friend wouldn't help me install it because it was to cold. (even though we swapped his motor in the rain and low 40's!)

Major Bummer, Russ - sorry to hear that happened to you.
I would bet its a strong possibility someone not far from you watched you install, possibly heard you testing it, then watched you load your trunk - look close to home for the culprit!

That sucks man. Where in Columbus are you? I go down there often and am paranoid someone's going to jack my ****.

As far as the questions on the dash, go to your local library and pick up the Haynes and/or Chilton manual - it should help a little.

Yo If I was you I'd start doin some recon on people in your neighborhood. I mean unless someone was driving by and saw you putting the **** in, but I would hope you would hae realized they were lookin at you parked outside your house. Take a flashlight around and start lookin in your neighbors cars, thats what I'd do.

There's not a lot you can do to prevent theft from happening again and again. If you have stuff a theif wants (and he's good enough) he will get it. Security systems don't do a lot anymore. It doesn't take long for a theif to disable it. The best security is through your insurance, if they bother setting you up right. If you had full coverage on your ride, you'd be set right now. You might want to switch providers after something like that happens. Also, make sure all your audio stuff is mounted to your car. My brother got shafted by the insurance because his sub box was just loose in his trunk. What I did is take a peice of plywood, jigsawed it to match the shape of the cheap hardboard that covers the spare in the trunk. Screw in some brakets through the carpet into the plywood, and then screw those into your box. Doing that will create enough evidense after your stuff is stolen to prove to the insurance company that you had what you say you have, and that it was mounted properly. Oh, and keep your receipts too. If you do all that, you should be covered next time it happens.

My car (97 Civic) has been stolen once, and broken into twice. My bro's car (94 Accord) has been broken into 3 times. So we're finally figuring out how this crap works.

Or you could buy a gun and sleep in your car
