Default ipod with optional OEM CD player

Hello everyone. I have a question that hopefully you guys can help me with (I searched but couldn't come up with a definitive answer). I have a 96 Civic DX hatchback, which came with a radio only. The previous owner upgraded to the OEM CD player that sits right behind the cupholders. I spoke with a guy in one of the local audio shops and he told me that if I use an ipod, I will no longer be able to use the CD player because there is only 1 AUX port. I wasn't sure if this was accurate or if there is a way around it so I wouldn't lose the CD player function. Thanks for any help you can afford me!

Not true. You can use a RF modulator but the sound is not as good as an AUX input. Have you thought about upgrading your head unit to one that supports the ipod. They are really inexpensive.

Thanks for the replies! I really like the look of the OEM player and having everything as it came. Now, SiRGDC, you mentioned an RF modualtor and teler86, you mentioned an FM modulator. What is the difference between the two. I know what an FM modulator is but not clear on RF. Thanks again for the help guys.

i would deff not do an fm transmitter, i had one you loose so much sound with them. truthfully i understand you like the original look and maybe they do make something for your car to keep it that way (i have no clue). but no offense on a 10 year old car your stereo is very much out of date. i have an alpine CDE-9852 in my car with the ipod plug which was only 30 bux more on top of the head unit and the name of my songs, the tracks and everything read perfictly and FAST with the head unit. many ipod modulaters work slow which is annoying if ur searching for a song through your head unit. but hey its on you you can pick up the head unit with plug for 180 on ebay.

do what vival says. i have an older alpine (9807) and it was by far the best $300 i've ever spent on my ride, and i've had it for about 4 years now. it's been in 3 different cars.

I'll have to consider that. Now, if I do get a new CD player, will it install in the bottom where the OEM one is now, or will I be able install it in the radio location aboove (by the climate controls). Thanks again for all of the replies everyone, I really appreciate it.

the cd player will replace both units. so the cd player will mount in the top, and you'll have a pocket on the bottom.
