Default ipod adapter question

hey im looking into buying a metra ipod adapter to plug into my factory headunit, but i'm curious about one thing...

this is the metra...

heres a visual of the whole unit, its not the metra but just so you get an idea...

The adapter has the harness that plugs into the radio, and that goes to the little box which connects to the ipod...

where does that connect to the actual vehicle if the harness connects to the box?

someone want to clarify?

Wait, what?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The adapter has the harness that plugs into the radio, and that goes to the little box which connects to the ipod...</TD></TR></TABLE>

That pretty much sums it up. Not sure what else you're confused about?

Um, WTF are you talking about?

The adapter plugs into your radio.

Your iPod plugs into the adapter.

That's it.

No more plugging is necessary.

It would appear that both of the adapters of which you've posted pictures do not require an additional power source, so there isn't anymore plugging.

Holy crap...

If you pull the radio out of your vehicle, you should see two wiring connection points. One is for the main wiring harness, which contains the power & speaker wires.

The second should be empty, unless you have a CD changer connected. If it's empty, you would plug your iPod adapter into it.

Done.
