Default Integra; System Basics

Hey guys,

Just got a '95 Integra LS sedan. I want to put a reasonable amount of money in this ( for a high schooler ) for a nice sound system. I also might undergo a "carputer" project to put DVD, CD, MP3, GPS, and other goodies into my car. However, I am a beginner at car audio, so can someone give me some basic info or point me to a car audio guide?

To give a little background info, I plan to keep the car for a year or two. I am interested in clean, undistorted audio. I think super-bass systems are stupid and get a from me. I like nice components - I bought Sony MDR-V700 DJ headphones and I have a MidiLand S4 8400 6-speaker with Decoder box system on my computer. But since I am planning to sell the car within two years, I don't want to spend oodles of cash.

Thanks,
Ben

If you've got some basic components lying around, you can undergo a carputer project like that and complete it for $500 or less.

I'd say reasonable would mean around $750 total cost, to me. But please, all replies are welcome, and I'm open to modifying my price guesstimates.

If you like clean undistorted sound, you don't want to listen to an MP3.
How much do you have to spend?

lemmie tell you from having experience with this, go search in this forum for a post i made about gps systems. I had a gps system in my car, a 6 disc DVD changer, 7" wide screen, subs, custom box, amps, everything. this all ran me, including installation prices, around near 10,000$. and this isn't even for show. this is equipment prices mostly. gps, with a average screen, will run you almost 2000-2500. alone. throw in DVD, tack on another 500- 2000, depending on the disc capacity you want. Trust me tho, if you put all this into your car, your car WILL GET NOTICED AND JOCKED!!!! I had so many people admiring all the stuff I had at shows, and around town, and at meets, it was nuts. jsut be prepaired to drop about 1/2 the cost of a used m3 into your car to get a nice setup
