Installing Infinity Basslink
Hey guys,
I'm about to purchase an Infinity Basslink from http://www.sounddomain.com
I was wondering what else I would need besides the actual basslink and remote.
I read somewhere I would need some 8 gauge wire is that correct? Can someone let me know what else I would need to install this into my 98 Integra? Thanks.

most likely you are gonna need a wiring kit because its gonna need power, ground, turn on signal (remote wire), and a sound signal coming from the headunit via RCA's. its basically a sub with a built in amp.
Ok I have actually had experience with these so liscen to me.
The bass-link has 2 ways of wiring it to your deck. The first is going through the speaker wire outputs that go to your door speakers, it requires all four so thats 8 connections for all you non-math majors. Option 2 is taking RCAs to the bass-link, wich is ******* retared because you need two sets. Yes I said 2 sets of RCAs, for some retarded reason Infinity did it this way. I mean I understand why, but it is still retarded. So IF you use RCAs you need to use your front and rear outputs, not the sub-out that your deck might have.
IMO option one is the best way, it might be a lot of splicing but you will save your front and rear outputs for a mid range amp for your door speakers. The bass-link comes with the speaker option one wires.
So all you need is:
- 8 guage wire
- Fuse and fuse holder
- 8 guage wire for ground
- Sheet metal screws (for mounting)

I installed it in my friends Accord and was actually impressed, it hit pretty well for a self powered setup. It has 2 subs back to back, which gives you both effects of a sub speaker. The tight pop that you get when it is facing you, and the low thump that you get by having the sub facing away from you. It is deffantly better than some bass-tube getto ****, fo shizzle.

I just ran out side to look at mine, an I only have one set of Rca's going into my Basslink. Plus mine is running into my EQ (sub-out) my front an rear are being used by my amp... but thats only a suggestions in the mauel.. there are various ways to hook it up but either way it gets a

If the basslink has two pair of RCA inputs, it would be wise to use some Y-Adaptors to split the signal to all four inputs, don't know why Infinity made it that way, but it sounds much better with all four inputs plugged up.

Not to be nit picky, but it only has one sub and then uses a passive radiator - totally different then having two sub's - only one is powered in the Basslink

Anyone got pictures of mounting locations? Would it work better horizontal or vertical.</TD></TR></TABLE>
In most situations vertical is fine, plus you can tuck it into a side "pocket" in the trunk and play with the location to get the best bass.
As a side note, the reason for the 4 RCA inputs is *not* stupid. You do *NOT* need all 4 connected. Infinity did this, just as JBL does with the Mono-block Power Valve amps, so people who do *not* have a sub-output can hook up both the front and rear channels, so no matter which way they fade or balance the bassslink will still play with full power. It's a way of mocking the sub-preout but without the seperate power control.
Also, the basslink has an "auto-on" feature like alot of home audio self-powered subs. If you run the high level inputs to the bass link (IE> tag off your speaker lines) you won't need to run the remote turn on. Switch the auto turn on switch to "ON" and the bass link will kick on when it senses audio on the speaker lines.
