installing amp for components
I have sony 6x9s 4-way 260 watt and infinty 6.5s 2-way 180 watts and a pioneer deck, how do you wire an amp for them? ive never done that for components only subs. I have the remote wire and rca wire already hooked up to the back of the deck, and the power wire from the batery. Im going to have a 4 channel amp. I just need to know how i hook up the speaker wire do i just run it from the amp to the speakers and leave the speaker wire from the deck not connected?or what? Thanks

You would wire the amps the same way, a power wire, turn on, and ground for the amp, you would choose maybe the "front" rca output (on the back of the radio) to use unless you have a 4 channel, then you would use front and rear outputs (assuming your radio has those). The easiest way is to find the speaker wires behind the headunit, attach LONGER speaker wire to them, and run it back to whereever the amp will be located. Easy money bro...easy money

you would plug the rca's into the back of the deck as INPUT SIGNAL to the amplifier (yes, the front rca and the rear rca will be used), you would use the speaker wires that are NOW being used (the aftermarket harness used to add your radio)...(the one with the grey and grey/white stripe etc...). Solid colors are positive and that same color with a stripe is the negative side. Run your wires back to the amp...

The easy way, [ with amp mounted in the rear] install the deck, using adpt. harness, [acc. power, ground, constant power, and lightand power ant., [if needed] you will not use the speaker wires on the adpt. harness, so just join them together, [RR+ to RF+, RR- to RF-, RL+ to FL+ and RL- to FL-] then disconnect the OEM speaker wires off the rear speakers and run them to the amp, [they are now front speaker wires] and just use the wire that come with the 6x9s and run them to the amp.
If the deck you have has two sets of preamp oututs, [front and rear] you will run two sets of RCAs from the deck to the amp, along with a amp turn on lead, [best way, is down center of car, under consol, carpet and rear seat] lay it flat, not criscrossingeach other, use duct tape to hold in place, be very carefull that nothing will pinch the wires, [when consol and back seat go back in] also make sure you can pull deck out of dash without unpluging RCAs, [a little slack] run the power down the batt. side of car, ground amp to floorpan as close to amp as you can, [no more then a foot or so] lots of bolts back there, [ seat, and seatbelt bolts] make sure you clean off all paint, [bare metal] depending on amp, [watts] you may have to beef up groung from batt. to chassis, and motor to chassis.
