Default ignition help!

My 2001 Integra was stolen and I just got it back. The only problem is that the ignition was punched out. Does anyone have any information on how to make it only a push button start without having to use the key at all? Any information would help. The dealership wants to charge me an arm and a leg to get a new one. Please post any info.

yeah, just hook the switch up to a 12v source and jump it to your ignition harness.

Making it push button start only seems like a BAD idea... That's like NO security... Unless you can make it like the new Lexuses with the smart keys... Now that would be cool...

If you have a good alarm and good aim, then how did your car get stolen?

Anyways... Most pushbutton start kits still require you to have the key in the cylinder to turn the ignition system on, and the button simply throws power to the starter... You'll need to make new circuits with switches for your ignition and accessory lines, and then add the button for your starter...

Still sounds like a bad idea, regardless of how good your alarm (and aim) is... That's just asking to get jacked again...

My advice would be to just replace the ignition, and add a few layers of security to your alarm, like fuel cutoff, etc....

Just my .02...

You dont need a kit. Go to radioshack and buy a momentary push button and a 30-40 amp relay and just wire it in and the whole thing costs less than $10.
