Ideas for Sound System Integra
Hey I am new to the forum and I was just looking around. I have a '90 Integra 4 door. I am very happy with it but it needs some upgrades. One thing I need is a sound system but im a little rusty in this area. I don't know much about what's good and what's not. I don't have tons of money but I am thinking of asking for a few things for Christmas so I need to prepare a list. I need a head unit so if anyone would like to give a suggestion for that and also some price estimates. I need 2 6 1/2" speakers for the front. 2 6X9's in the rear. I am guessing I want a 10" sub in the back but I am not sure should I get a 10" or 12". I also need an amp obviously. Any ideas on what brands and pricing for each would be appreciated. I don't want the top of the line im not rich. I just need something to play some music the way I want it played.

It sounds like you only want one sub?
Personally, I feel that the best cost/performance ratio system will look something like this:
Headunit, 6.5" components for the front, 1 12" sub, and a 4 channel amp.
Get a 4 channel (a non-JL for this application) that has power in the neighborhood of 75W x 4. You can run two channels to the components, then brigdge the other channels to the sub. This should give you in the neighborhood of 300W to your sub.
Headunits are very funny beasts. This is the only part of your system that you actually interact with. I would go to all of your local car audio shops and play with all the headunits....find out which ones are the most comfortable to operate.
Brands to look at for heads:
Clarion, Eclipse, Alpine, Pioneer (not my fav, but they have a great price/performance ratio)

Are you trying to call my advice incompetent...
In fact, I liked your advice, my system runs tri-way also.
