Default IDE HARDRIVE?

Im going to buy a new headunit next week and it will have usb can i use a ide hardrive and get a dapter ( IDE to USB) and play music off my ide hardrive?

If anyone can help out and tell me what i need to do

No. We tried that about a year ago and the USB port on the deck simply does not supply enough current to power a drive directly.

It did, however, work with an external hard drive that required 12 volts.
