HOW TO: Tuning Audio Thread
Alright guys,
Everyone in this forum is obviously sound fanatics or enjoys listening to music. We spend so much money buying high quality equipment but whats the point if its not tuned or adjusted correctly to listen too?
I for one do not have any idea how to tune audio, from adjusting the frequency to adjusting equalizer ect.
If there is any one in here that can take there time and explain to me the different in hz and which is the best frequency and gain to turn it to please let me know.
thanks

I don't know about best way, but, heres how i do it when a system has an amp for mids/highs and a sub:
With just the sub off and the amp gains all the way down I turn the radio up about 3/4 full volume. I like the inside speakers to be crossed over above 80 usually closer to 100. Then I turn up the gains on the rear speakers until they start to distort then i back off a little. Then I turn the gain on the front speakers up until the front and back sound even, one is not louder then the other. Then i turn the sub on, set the crossove for 100 and below and turn the gain up untill the bass is as loud as the customer wants it. Or if the customer is not around where I think it sounds good.
Oh yeah I do all that with the radio loud button off and the bass treble all set to zero, or the middle not adding or taking away. Also, I always try to tune with a cd, it has the best sound quality.
Hope that helps,
Matt

i personally dont think there is an official way to tune. everyone has different "tastes" in how music sounds. what sounds awesome to you can be horrible for me.
the way I "tune" is pretty much what 4doorex does:
i zero out everything (i actually disable/unplug my sub)
i adjust the mids/highs to my liking
then i plug the sub back in..and adjust to my liking
thats pretty much it!

You dont want the rear and front speakers to be even. It'll sound better if the sound is coming from in front of you. Only thing you need rear fill for is if you have passengers that can't hear the fronts too well.
