Default how do i mount my headunit!?

ok i bought an alpine headunit from my friend. before i had a pioneer and the unit had little metal "tabs" that could be pulled up so that when the unit is pushed in the tabs lock in place and prevent the unit from sliding forward when accelerating. my new alpine does not have these tabs and now its sliding forward when i accelerate. no screws came wit it but my friend said he had mounted them to some kind of brackets on his nissan xterra. btw i drive an integra. any ideas wat is used?

When I installed my Alpine in my del Sol, I screwed the sleeve on to the stock mounting hardware and it also locked in place. Just try playing with it, and if it doesn't work, get creative and use duct tape or zip-ties or something.

Are you still using the sleeve from the pioneer? If you are, thats the problem.

I used the alpine mounting bracket on my car. Does he have it in a closet somewhere? That is not something I would get rid of even if I did not use it at the moment. Maybe alpine can send you one if you contact them.

My friend had a HU that didn't come with a sleeve. We talked to some installers at circuit city, and they found a spare alpine sleeve, but it was $10 .

You should really use a sleeve to lock it in better.

If it's an Integra...use the stock mount/pocket thing. Use some spacers (pennies work great) between the sleeve and the pocket, then duct tape away!

Use a backstrap for extra security while you're at it.

It is a metal bracket that slides in to your din opening with locking tabs at the sides. You then slide in your head unit. All aftermarket HU's come with them.
