Default how do i install a sub?

i want to install a sub in my 07 civic since it has 4 wimpy speakers only.
so here is the story. my bro had 2 12's in a box. he cut the box in half and put that part in his car. The other half is what i will be using. Its a wolfentech sub 1000 watts 500 rms i belive. ( i dont know what rsm means) but the sub works great on his car with a 600 watt amps by kenwood.

so yah i need to know the basics i got it pretty much figured out but i need to be sure of what other stuff i need.
i have to purchase this i belive to install amp and then the radio to amp right??
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-R...L#Tab

so power goes to positive battery then i hook up the fuze somewhere in a safe place. run the wire threw the firewall and back into the amp. then connect sub wire to box right? what gauge wire should i use? is 18 ok? next i think i have to run 2 wires from the amp to the headunit ( i am using the stock civic lx headunit) can i still hook up the sub to it?

and after that is that all ?

ps. i will try to look for a used amp because im on a budged and want this to work for cheap thanks

You've got it pretty much covered, but you'll also need a wire run back (connected to any switched 12v source) for the remote wire.

You'll also need a line out converter, which you can connect at the rear speakers, since it's easier than pulling the head unit.

unless your amp has high level inputs of course.

If the sub is truly 500w RMS, then you should be looking for an amp capable of delivering at least 500w RMS.

Is that sub single or dual voice coil? What's the ohm value on the sub??

Volfenhag... LOL... I remember a guy from my Best Buy days coming in with a charred trunk because his Volfenhag subs burnt the expletive up...

Anyways... As stated above, If the sub is truly 500w RMS, then you should be looking for an amp capable of delivering at least 500w RMS.

Look at the sticky above. It has everything on power wire issues. If you need a loc pay for shipping and you can have a free one. Other then that youhav everything down right
