hood pin switch problem
The bracing is not so much to raise, "used to bring the button up closer to the hood" as it is to place the hood pin in a good location where it will be closer to the hood and on a flat spot on hood so hood presses squarly down on pin switch, it also moves the hood pin switch away from possibly getting wet when raining or washing car, extending the life of the switch, you should be using an adustable switch...
This is an inexpensive one... http://yahoo.shoptoit.ca/shop/produc...d_1850489.html.
I have also used OEM Chrysler/Dodge hood pins as they are pretty much weather proof, [but not adjustable] 94

my hood pin switch looks exactly like that one, if im not able to work anything out with this one i'll definitely give one of those a try and see what happens. by the way do you think i should get a new backup battery too since my other one is screwing with whatever trigger i hook it up to? when i hooked it up to the doors it would cause the alarm to think the doors were open when clearly they werent and same thing when i had it hooked to the hood pin trigger, i dont recall needing to install a diode on there, or do i?
The trigger output from the BB should not be connected to an input trigger that has a load on it, [in the case of door trigger the load is the dome light] without installing a diode to isolate the load from the BB trigger output.
It sounds to me like the BB is N/G there shold be no output on the blue lead, [trigger lead] unless the BBs red lead is disconnected from power or the black ground lead is disconnected from ground. 94

well im sure that its being grounded, i'll double check on the power wire though just to be sure. if i do need to install a diode the striped side needs to be connected to the door trigger wire correct?
BB trigger wire directly to alarms door trigger input
Cars door lead connected to alarms door trigger input through a diode, cathode, [stripped end] goes on cars door lead, anode, [non striped end] goes to alarms door trigger wire, that way both the doors and BB and supply a ground trigger to the alarm but BB can not supply a ground to the dome light because the diode is blocking the ground output from the BB from getting to the dome lights ground circuit. 94

alright fcm i tried really hard to comprehend what u said in the last post but it was a little too technical for me so would u be able to rephrase that?
OK, connect a diode, anode end, [the end without the white band] and the back-up batt. trigger lead, [blue] to the door trigger input lead of the alarm, that will leave the cathode, [end with white band] end of diode not connected to anything, [with me so far?] now take that cathode end of the diode and connect it to the cars door wire, your done. 94

Good looking on the break down! If you need a new hood pin, pm me and I will send you one free of charge.
I have hundreds of thoses. The ones showen above are standered with dei kits and other quality alarms systems.
ok fcm will do, and thanks for the break down because i nowhere near got that out of the first post so thanks. and wrx killer i'll be sending u a pm now.
are you sure the hood pin wire isnt grounded out somewhere? is it going through a grommet in the firewall and wireloomed and ziptied from anything cutting into it?
well it seemed to be that the problem was with the female connect, it had a few wires exposed and i think those were being grounded out on the support because i wrapped it up with electrical tape and havent had that problem anymore.
