Mine are 100% street legal...I can go anywhere in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, and still have street legal headlights. I at least follow the law when I do upgrades for my car...Here in Kansas City, you can get a serious fine for having headlights that are too bright, and for not passing emissions tests. The downside to HIDs is they are so bright they blind oncoming drivers, and that can raise legality issues should a crash occur because drivers were blinded by your HID headlights.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Emissions? what the expletive are you smoking!!!???? Hids are legal you tree huggin hippy

What's illegal about them is their luminoscity...HID headlights are so bright they blind oncoming traffic, which causes more safety problems than the headlights solve. You can get fined here in Kansas City if a crash occurs because other drivers were blinded by your headlights. Driving at night with HIDs here in Kansas City is just like driving at night with both high-beams and low beams on...You can get fined for doing so because other drivers are blinded by all the light.

I'm not sure if they're legal where you live, but I know you can't drive within Kansas City's city limits with them legally.

thats why when you do an hid retrofit you properly adjust your headlights. i can mess around with my stock headlights on my civic and make them angled much higher than they're supposed to be blinding oncomming traffic. so there you go. i guess my stock halogens are illegal too.

All the ones I know of that have HIDs either have them angled low, or there's a semi-reflective mirror in front of the bulb to reduce the luminoscity. Also, the HIDs used here are not equipped with projectors...Its simply a highly-polished, diamond-cut reflector with a smaller one in front of the bulb.

you idiot. from the factory they're installed and set up properly. the exact same thing you should do when you do a retrofit.

Most of those "supercars" are rare in Kansas City. And while you can drive through the city with them, very rarely will you find cars worth more than $50,000 on the streets here.

All the headlights in cars here use diamond-cut, highly-polished stainless steel reflectors, even cars with HIDs. There's another, smaller, rear-facing reflector mounted in front of the low-beam bulbs to reduce the luminoscity of the low beams. Some of the newer cars use projector-type housings, but those cars do not come with HID bulbs. Also, a few of the cars here use two-way bulbs...One bulb for both high-beam and low-beam in a single housing.

mnaines (4:32 PM 12/3/2006): The headlights used in newer cars sold here in Kansas City have auto-leveling housings, but the older ones don't, and I angled mine so my Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlights light up everything up to 1/4-mile in front of me.
mnaines (4:32 PM 12/3/2006): So far, the police have not said anything about that.
Otherguy (4:32 PM 12/3/2006): uh huh...

Yeah, they have the "Kansas Special Edition Cars" yeah yeah... He also said I wouldnt pass emissions if I had hids

mnaines (4:34 PM 12/3/2006): What puzzles me is why the HIDs on my mom's Nissan Maxima can light up as much area as the headlights on my car, yet, the pictures you showed me are all black except for directly in front of the car.
mnaines (4:36 PM 12/3/2006): Hell, I'd need a wide-angle lens just to get a good picture of what all the headlights on both my car and the Maxima light up.

OOOOOO IM REPORTING YOUR MOMMY TO THE KANSAS POLICE FOR HAVING HIDS!!!! OOOOOOO your such a tool
