Default Help... sub box doesnt fit in hatch

I took a lot of time to develop a custom wood piece that perfectly fit into the back hatch to replace the dinky little black plastic thing that was there. With this, I was going to mount a bandpass box w/ 2 12" subs and two amps, but with the box in place, it hits the rear windshield wiper motor!!

I wanted to know if there was any way to remove the rear wiper and plug the hole that will not rattle loose/cause any problems in the long run.

I have pictures... but I don't know how to post them...

Yes there is a way. there are people selling rear wiper plugs on ebay. they are only a couple of dollars. or cut a notch in your box sink the box in and put plexiglass in there with a design on it and a neon behind it. Good luck!

I found one from Honda... it's $20 though! I guess it's worth it... thanks for the help, and maybe this will help someone else...

I used an antenna plug from a '92 Accord to plug the wiper hole on my DA ... Sits almost flush to glass,no leaks and was only $10 (for all three pieces ... plug, gasket and wingnut) from the stealership !!!

I would... but the I got the box for free and pretty much sealed it up and have done as much work as I'd like to. Most of the custom work was on the wood piece it will be mounted on. I'll post pics... once I figure out how...

just to the right of your battery there is a plug in the firewall... you can use that! it works perfect and is a perfect fit! i used it and mine looks great... just put a little silicon around it before you put it in to ensure a tight seal! here are instructions on how to do it! http://www.sandmracing.com/rearwiperremoval.html you dont need to buy the plug from honda/acura like these guys did... just look where i stated above and you'll be set!

Box's are really cheap... under 30 dollars, so why dont you just buy one that will fit nicely then you can still have your rear wiper?

a sheet of wood is $20 if the whole box is $30 its a **** poor box ... i wouldnt recommend a prefab box unless it was a Qlogic

Well, what's nice about this system is the way I paid for it. The box was free cuz it had some defects that I took the time to fix, the subs were free cuz a friend of mine owed me money, so all I bought was the amps and wiring. I really didn't want to put to much more money in, so now I have the rear wiper removed and half the wiring done. I'm going to finish the wiring tomorrow, and I'll try to post some pics... if someone can tell me how...

hey man thats tight u got most of the stuff for free. but is it worth tearing apart your car for? and for 30 bucks you can get a hook up on a box if u know the right people. I hope your system comes out alright man. Post some pics of it when u get it done. 20 bucks is a whole lot of money for a sheet of wood. I dont no where u buy your wood man but im glad i didnt pay that.

Wow... after two days of tear-apart and work, the system is almost finished. I have it all wired up and all the wires hidden, I just need to do the power wires for the amp and hope it works. I would post the pics... but I still don't know how...

Here's the old setup from my mangled DC2. Everything is mounted on 2 pieces of 1/2" plywood. The Amp and other crap is on one will the Sub sits on it's own braced board.

Wow, that is really nice... I have a similar setup, except I didn't get new carpet so it looks kinda bad. I figure I can redo it later, just trying to fit the budget for now. I like how you put the wires through the wood too, it looks clean... nice setup
