Help with Keyless Entry..
Hi, I just bought a 2002 Honda Civic LX (Coupe) yesterday. The previous owner told me that a few years ago he had the overhead light right behind the drivers seat replaced after going out (Was not the bulb, was something mechanical). And once he had the light replaced, he noticed the keyless entry and the lock switch inside the car no longer worked.
My car currently has an aftermarket Clifford Alarm System in it, and I had the original Clifford keyless entry fob (Which still works, just not for locking/ unlocking; basically only setting and un-setting the alarm).
So what should I do about getting this fixed? Any idea what the problem might be?
Also, for repairs, about what cost do you think repairing something like this would cost?

It is a good bet the Clifford alarm is already connected to the cars power door lock system and the problem is in the PDS system, indicated by the fact the cars power door lock switch also does not lock/unlock the doors.
Have you checked the fuse for the power door locks?94

Just checked the fuse for the locks, not blown. Even tried switching it out with a new 20A, nothin. Also located the inside light and switched that one, locks still don't work. Damn.
FCM, I have read some of your replies and I must say that you are very knowledgable.
Over this weekend, I installed a new Alpine Head Unit in my Brother in Law's 2002 Acura RSX with stock Keyless entry. This is the vehicles 3rd head unit. I made the mistake of not disconnecting the Battery, and during the process had a small arch from the ACC/Radio 12V wire to Radio Ground wire. After this mishap the radio 12v lead does not have power and the dome lite is out and the alarm and door locks do not work.
I bypassed the old wire with a new 12v and ground from the after market amp. The head unit works but the other items do not. I checked all the under dash fuses and my brother in-law checked the engine bay fuses. I removed the ACC/Radio fuse and swapped out, still no 12v @ Radio.
I have read other questions about reset alarm. Even your response to Honda needing the Keyless plug connected. Any help for this mess would be appreciated.

If the ign. switch was off when you shorted the wire, then it was not the radio acc. wires fuse that blew, it will be the constant power lead, the dome light, door locks and alarm are all probably on the same constant power circuit.
Find the dome light or interior light fuse and check it, use a meter or test light to check the fuses. eyeballing them is not good enough, they can look good but still be bad.
A couple things...
Rewire the Alpine HUs 12V+ constant, [yellow] directly to the batt., [run a fused 12ga lead from the batt to behind the HU and connect the HUs yellow to it, don't forget to cap off the stock radio harness constant power.

The Alarm is Stock. Page 148 of the 2003 Owners Manual Says the Security System alarms if the radio is removed from the dashboard or the wiring is cut.
The original radio Power lead and ground lead for the stock radio are not connected. Is the stock security system looking for a NeG trip at the radio?
I will check the fuses, Interior Lite, #3 location at the Engine & #16 Door Lock.
