Headunit Questions
I'm looking for a mp3 headunit at the moment since my current one stopped working. A few questions I have are
-I plan on running a sub 300watts or so is it worth getting a headunit with a sub preouts rcas..
-If I just get one with out sub preouts how would I go about running the sub, tap into the rear speakers or could I just use the rear speaker outputs. I might not run rear speakers anyways. But if I do the amp I had had a LPF, I tried it out with the old stereo it worked fine.
Units I'm looking at are
PIONEER DEH-P4600MP
Pioneer Premier DEH-P560MP
Kenwood KDC-MP425

I've worked in the car audio industry for about 7 years now and I'd say the DEH-P560MP is the best choice out of those 3. Only thing I don't like about the DEH-P560MP is the low PreOut Voltage... actually I should say "normal" PreOut Voltage.
The DEH-P4600MP doesn't have the HP/LP x-over and the 3-band parametric EQ.
Kenwoods in general are not very reliable.

It sounds to me like your getting confused here. If you are planning on running a sub, YOU MUST run an amplifier to it. This is where the sub preout on a deck would be nice. just run the rcas from the sub preout to the amp, set the amp on LP, and then hook the sub to the amp. If you try and run the sub off your deck, you will most likely have heat related problems with your deck down the road. However, There are some decks on the market like Pioneer and Rockford who produce decks with bridgeable rear speaker outputs to power subs. I've done this before and with a usual output of only 70watts or so, its not even worth trying.
Thanks for the advice I went ahead and ordered the.
I had a kenwood a few years ago wasnt bad but the changer crapped out, my friend is actually still running the old z919 first mp3 player by them.
