i dont think theres any particular brand that would stand up best to the vibration. any of the alpine/kenwood/pioneer etc brands should be fine. jsut make sure you mount it properly and secure.

Exactly ... pretty much all "newer" cd players feature ESP .. [electronic skip protection] so they can pretty much stand up to the abuse and punishment of daily driving , just make sure you have the digital eye [ the part of the CD player that reads the information ] cleaned regularly as this is the #1 cause of people saying "my CD doesnt work!" hopefully some of this info will be useful to you .. and personally .. i like Pioneer or Alpine

I have an Alpine in my truck and have a gravel road that is really bumpy I go up a lot and it will skip on that so you have to turn it off but other that roads like that it is pretty good. I have a JVC Aresonal in my car and it doesn't skip going up that road so it is a little better but if your on paved roads both of them seem to be about the same and don't skip much if they even do at all. The Aresonal is a little better off road though but I doub't your going to go on roads that are gravel and 4 miles long like that but I don't know. I have also heard great things about Pioneer and Eclipse but have never owned one so I don't know how it does skip wise.

As for the Pioneer or Alpine I couldn't decide between the two for my truck and choose Alpine and while it is really good I am dissapointed after listening to my JVC Aresonal and wish I had bought another one of those or maybe an Eclipse. I haven't tried Eclipse stuff but have heard great things about it. Don't get me wrong I love the Alpine and have a friend that had one in his car before he sold the car and loved it but neither were as good as my JVC Aresonal. The Aresonal seems to be a little clearer and go louder but not much just seems to have a little more power despite it being rated for a few less watts per channel. I would go with either Pioneer JVC Aresonal, Alpine, or Eclipse probably all of them I have seen have been great with the exception of the lowest end pioneer it is ok but not that great. I don't know about the regular JVC stuff either but the Aresonal line is good and I know several car audio shop owners that use them in there cars.

my old sony mobile ES stuff NEVER skipped.
once I took the unit out, let it play a cd and SHOOK THE **** OUT OF IT while it was playing. I did that as hard as I could for a minute, all u could see was a blur.
DID NOT SKIP.
