Default Headlight kill switch?

Does anyone have a kill switch for the headlights. I was thinking of doing this - the reason - when theives steal cars they mostly do it at midnight, when its dark. So, when the police see they are not driving with the lights on they get stop. If someone has done this , how did you do it.

why not just kill the main relay?

prevent it from starting, running, and it throws lots of codes!

It can be done but there are much better kills (Main Relay for Example).
All you would need is a SPDT automotive relay. You can wire this to the factory headlight relays ground wire. Check out these two links, they should get you started.

You know that a headlight kill, both high and low..

is going to require 4 relays.

I dunno the best place to tap into it either, the engine bay is too visible, and under the dash, just adds more junk....

the easiest way to check for the color, is look at the plug at the head light...

on pre ES chassis - i think the headlamps are positive trigger...
black is always ground, the others, well one is high and one is low...

Install a switch on the PGM-FI Main Relay, [main relay] black ground lead, it is the ground for the injector relays coil, it will cut power to the injectors, fuel pump, one of the powers for the ECU/ECM and a few engine sensors, it is a low current ground so only a small (1A) switch is needed.

Actually you only need one relay, install it on the power input lead to the "Combination Light switch", probably a white lead, it will cut power to all lights controled by the head light switch.

Didn't think about that... but wouldn't that kill EVERY light...

turn signals, parking, headlights, high beam?

might just do that so, i don't end up with a dead battery when i arm the car XD

but i think its a little too dangerous... cause if the relay fails, you loose all your lighting, in one shot...

you loose your fuel.. not as dangerous.. you can still steer... sorta.. and you still have lights to see ahead of you...

Why would it kill the signal lights, all you are doing is cutting power to the head and park lights.
The chances of the relay failing are about the same as the fuse blowing when there is nothing wrong. 94
