Default HEAD UNIT PROBLEMS

I have an Alpine CDA 7963. Latley if I turn the volume over 10 it starts to "clip" (i think thats the word used). It does that for a few seconds then it turns off and retracts back into the dash and then turns back on immediatley and retracts back out. I can't understand why it is doing this???? Any help would be apprecitated

It does it when the radio and CDs are playing. Either way it does it. How would it not be getting enough RMS. The head unit is very powerful in its own respect. I think around 60*4??

Teken, I think the problem is what you stated in your 3rd paragraph. What can I do about this, or what exactly needs to be done to fix it?? Thank for all the help.

There is always a possibility that it's some sort of feedback loop built into the headunit's amplifier. It could be a short in one of the speakers or one of the pins in the wiring harness adapter. I've seen these in a couple of installs.

Wait, your Alpine deck is a CDA7863 from last year. That thing has a mosfet chip for the amp. Maybe at "10", it's off because it's not seeing enoughcurrent because the headunit is wired through the factory radio harness... the wires could be too thin. If you look on the contant power wire on the Alpine harness, it should have a tag on it saying to connect it directly to the battery. Or the fuseblock under the dash should be fine too.

Yea I have the yellow wire going straight to the fuse block. I think its a short in a speaker somewhere. The right door speaker has been making some funny noises this week, so it might be that
