Default have a headunit problem

just hooked up an indash monitor( just a monitor no dvd player). then i spiced in the power wires to hook up an external dvd player. everything powers up. i got video at first.. and didnt have audio.. now i have audio but one problem.. on the dvd player there is no volume control. i didnt mess wit it too much.. but what about the volume buttons on the screen .. would that work?

another question.. the harness for the dvd player doesnt have a remote lead.. how should i hook up the remote wire? to test it i hooked it straight to a power wire and it came on.. and then the audio was really loud and i had no way of turing it down.. so i disconnected it.

the dvd player is a farenheit (no model number) got it from a freind who got it from a friend..

i know this description is kind of weak ..but ne one who ever had a problem like this might e able to help. thanks
