Default is this a good place? SHOCK SENSOR

will im finishing up installing my alarm (compustar 2W900) and was curious as to what you guys think of where i mounted the shock sensor. in the manual it doesnt give a specific location where to mount it and i know most shock sensor is mounted on the ignition wire harness. will this work? pros/cons?

in the middle of the car below the abs box.

Anywhere solid to pick up the vibration works fine. The place you mentioned will work fine, but most of the installations I see are strapped tightly to the steering column. It doesn't have to be hidden or hard to get to, just secure!

is that screwed down directly to the metal?

i dont know if this applies to the compustar shock sensor (i would think the concept would be the same for all shock sensors) but for DEI installations, its recommended that it be tired to a wire harness or attached to a plastic panel. It is not recommended that it be screwed to metal.

"..tying the sensor to a steering column or screwing it to metal will result in poor sensitivity..." - DEI

Yes but no point IMO. A properly installed/functioning shock sensor will perform the same job as 2.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Yes that is a good spot for the compustar shock sen, I find they work best mounted to a flat solid surface as close to middle of car as possable 94
