Default Getting static with audio on PS2.....

Ok i dont have a screen yet but, i thought i would see if i could get the audio to work on my ps2. Heres what i got:

PS2
Power Inverter
Alpine CD Player
Alpine Ai Net Adapter

i get static WHENEVER the AiNet rca adapter is plugged in. Its not actually plugged into the deck, i found an alpine wire hanging down behind my cupholders that my RCA adapter plugs in to. Is this wire just an extension or is it for a cd changer or something and i need to plug my RCA adapter into my deck.

would it matter that i have 2 amps and a sub in my car??

the static is VERY annoying. anyone have any ideas??

thanks
chris

could be that you are running the RCa next to the inverter or some other power source. low level should not be running next to rcas, will cause bad static.

better yet, are you running any of your rcas next to power wires. this will cause static.

what exactly do you mean power wires?? the ps2 power cord (goes into inverter) and ps2 rca cables are close together, but thats how they come out of the ps2. ive tried distancing the power inverter and rca cables as far as possible and nothing changes.

snoochtodanooch (11:44 PM 1/20/2004): what about the 12 power wires going back to the amps and the RCA's from the HU to the amps, are they seperated?
snoochtodanooch (11:46 PM 1/20/2004): the deal is that you can run the high end of audio system with power wires, like the amplified wires coming out of amp, they can run next to power. signal wires cannot, the 12volts creates and electric field that distorts, the distortion could be from the HU back, or between the Ai net and the PS2. Inverter usually run kinda hard, so i wouldn't doubt that is the problem if the wires are close

now that i am thinking about it, won't a inverter add alot of noise to a system, static and all normally?

your inverter needs a better ground.

I cut the plug(cig lighter) of the power inverter and ran the + and - directly to the battery.

i had this same problem with my car computer a few years back.
