hey guys, my front speakers just stopped working. They were playing fine and then all of sudden the sound was cut off. What should i check first? the wiring to the headunit? wiring to the speakers? Both left and right front speakers went out at the same time. Anyone have any ideas? thanks.
Need a lot more info to start making a guess...
Start by telling us the MM&Y of your car.
Then makes and models of the audio system, what HU, [head Unit], what speakers, what amps if any and what speakers are the amps driving.

I drive a 99 ek hatch. My headunit is an alpine cda-7893. I do have rear speakers and they work as of right now. My front speakers are alpine type r's. Rear speakers and my sub are connected to an amp but the front speakers aren't. Front speakers are just connected to the headunit. I have a 12inch type r sub by the way, and that is working just fine.
1- Obviously, make sure your fader is setup properly.
2- Try resetting the HU by disconnecting the battery for a moment or two.
3- Make sure (if there is a setting for it) that the HU's internal amp is on.
4- Check the fuses in the back on the HU. Often times there is more then one.
You can try hooking one speaker up to the HU at a time to see if you can get one working. You can also try using the rear outputs on the HU for the front speakers.
If you can get one speaker working... Take a volt meter and check continuity between all four of the speaker wires individually and ground to ensure none of them are grounding out. You can also measure resistance of the + and - of each speaker and makre sure there the same.

An Alpine CDA-7893
, very nice, I have the CDA-7892.
As White Smoke suggests, make sure internal amp is on, [PWR-IC ON].
Press the SETUP button for at least 3 sec., then use the << >> buttons to select PWR-IC, then press BAND button to toggle between off and on.
Do you still have the owners guide for that HU, do you know all the features that HU has?
