Default Front Speakers Dont Work

Hello, i have a 1997 Hatch and the front stock speakers dont work, they will only come on for a second when going around a corner or hitting certain bumps.
The car has an aftermarket deck. Someone took out the back 6x9s and put some 6.5" or 6" speakers there instead. I want to get new 6x9s for the rear and put the other ones in the front.

Could the problem with the front speakers not working be from the wiring at the speaker? Or at the head unit? How do i fix the front speakers so they will always work.

If they only work while going around a corner, definitely sounds like a connection problem, most likely at the speaker but don't rule out the deck either.

yeah its most likely connection if its intermittent, definitely don't rule out the deck because good chance someone installed it themselves, spliced the whole harness, and these are stock speakers in doors? if they havnt been touched, its more than likely is a problem at the head unit.

I agree with the past couple posts. You should pull the head unit and check to see 1-if the people who installed did that dumb **** where they cut the harness from the car because they were too poor to go to the store and buy a wire harness for $5 instead. I cant stand when people do this and then its up to you to go to the junkyard or something and find a car where you can go cut one out for yourself and reconnect it properly into the vehicle and then properly wire the aftermarket stereo to a wire harness and simply plug it in like it should be done. but your problem most def sounds like a connection problem. pull the stereo and check out the connections on the hookup if the connections are ok and none are loose/disconnected then maybe its at the speakers themselves so you could pull the speaker out of the door and check the connection onto the speaker. if that is not the problem either then try to run a new wire from the stereos wire harness to the speaker. if the speaker works then you can run a new line from the head unit to the doors. simple process especially if you have ever run a power wire or an rca/remote wire for a amplifier then you know its really not difficult to hide wires and snake them into tight spaces. Not a big problem, easy to fix. Nothing to loose sleep over. Ever need any directions for something you can shoot me a message or an email or somethin ap06010@yahoo.com I do car audio and video installations professionally for work so just let me know if you ever need something answered or help with anything. Hope you take care of your problem
