Ford Stereo Install, Please HELP!!
This morning I began installation on a Sony cd player. It is going into a manual 1994? ford escort. I took out the old stereo and put in the new, reconnected the battery, turned the ignition to ACC and lo and behold it works. I test everything else in the panel before I put the dash back in. I am about to disconnect the battery terminal to complete installation, and I think let me just make sure the car starts. You guessed it, it doesn't. It doesnt crank, it just kinda clicks. Any idea what the hell I did wrong/how to fix it? On a side note, the battery was pretty old and had a decent amount of acid buildup on the negative terminal. I don't understand why everything electrical works and the car won't start. PLEASE help!
If you did the install right, there should be no effect on the car, maybe you blew a fuse to the plugs or something else, try turning the deck off and then starting the car.
Problem has been fixed...Turns out there was so much corrosion on the battery that it was not a good enough connection. New battery fixed problem, now I only need to get the damn thing back in the dash! Thanks again!
