Default Capacitor draining battery?

hey guys whats up. ive got a problem with my girlfriends car. her brother installed a system as a christmas present and now we're having some trouble with the car starting. i dont know a lot about systems so im not sure what to do and her brother is busy a lot. the ar wont start now, and a new battery was just put in less than a month ago. for some reason when the car is off and the key is OUT ofthe ignition the radio still runs and the capacitor is lit up. any ideas?

Make sure the deck has the wires correctly connected - there are usually 2 power source wires on the deck - battery (constant) and accessory (switched). The amp also has similar connections - battery (constant) and deck (switched by radio). This shouldn't have anything to do with the car not starting though, unless the battery simply drained.

Next step - does the car start when the deck is unplugged?

A capacitor should not drain a battery when connected. A charged capacitor pulls no current. Now the stupid electronics they put on top of these things do. I have no idea why they would want to make these this way. Anyway if there is a remote wire going to it this should shut it down when not in use. So check that.

Caps shouldn't, but when they are cheap-o ones they may "leak"(heating up and using current) and that could be causing a dead battery.
