Default focal components

me and my friend are in a heated discussion...between the polyglass 165v and the polykevlar k2 6.5 components, he thinks the polykevlar k2's are the best to put in the side door, I said it was the polyglass. My reason being is that the polykevlar is very specific with regards to imaging, while the polyglass is less discriminating with a broader range. So the polykevlar should be used in kicker panels not in the sidedoors, this should be the job of the polyglass. Who is right? any input is appreciated

I would go so far as to say that neither of you are correct....neither set are best put in a door.

All speakers must be placed correctly with the proper enclosure if you want them to image and stage correctly. The polykev's will have better tonal accuracy no matter what location you put them in, so long as they are properly installed.

But if you did a shitty/sub par job on the kev's - meaning you just threw them in the doors and wired them up, and a great job installing the 'glass set (including custom kick panels, etc) the polyglass would sound better.

Some drivers, such as MB Quart tweeters, are designed to be mounted off axis, but for the most part, any set will benefit from non-stock mounting locations.

I think tha tyou are making the mistake of associating installation quality with price tag. Every set out there will benefit from a good install.
