Extend antenna wire?
Wasup fellas, I'm putting in alpine cva-1005 in my teg and I'm putting the brain under the pass seat. But the antenna cable won't reach over there. Is there anyway of extending it?
Most antennas are tuned, so simply adding a piece of wire to the end of it may not work very well. If you do want to add more wire, add a piece that is the same length as what is already included with the alarm.
I don't know that particular Alpine but I am assuming it's an alarm antenna that you are trying to extend. Pupascoopa is correct that antenna's are usually tuned. There are also a certain length for a reason. Usually their length is 1/2 or 1/4 the wavelength that the alarm operates at. So adding length to the antenna could harm your range more than help it. You could extend it by opening the alarm adding a coax then connect the original antenna to the end of the coax.
This is so funny.....
The CVA1005 is a video monitor system from Alpine.
The system normally come with an extended am/fm antenna
if you dont have one...you can pick up a longer one from most
auto parts stores or stereo shops in your area.
the lengths are 12",18".36" and 144".
Have fun

yeah its a TV system. Prolly when I said brain ppl though it was an alarm. It's all good though. So I can find the antenna wire at autozone or something?
yeah, I've seen them at some Autozones. Pep Boys usually has more stereo stuff. Its all crappy brands but that doesn't matter about ant extensions.
