Default Is it expensive to hook up a security camera?

I was thinking of facing a camera towards my car every night and hooking it up to a small television screen or something so that I can see it (I can't see my car from my room). How exactly do you do this? And how much might it cost to install?

Not really the right forum, but I can't say I know where else you could post ha ha.

You can pick up cheap security camera even at places like harbor freight; hook it up to a tv and you're good to go.

Cameras are cheap! I have one in my garage and outside of my garage as well with night vision. All you need is a looping VCR or a multiple input video card, a large hdd and the correct software. You can set something up that is pretty cheap.

Would it be better if I had someone else to do it? I'm inclined about these things with wires and whatnot.. I leave it to the pros. But the least I can do is buy all the equipments and wirings, just need them installed.

Naw bro, a setup like this is SUPER easy to setup man. Especially if you go wireless. How much do you wanna spend and what are your goals?

I had the same idea as you, I can see my car from my window but just so i can sleep at night i am going to get this wireless night vision camera and put it on the roof and have it point to the driveway/car. expletive thieves!

Seems like a good deal but you gotta remember that this will only see about about 20ft or so in the dark. There are much better ones out there. Also, they have IR/LED lights you can add onto something like this to extended that range.

i dont know... maybe looking to spend about $300-$400 total. but i'd prefer if there is a much cheaper setup and still gets the job done. im not looking for anything high tech... just a motion by motion picture and night vision (lights here on my street are dim).

btw did you say wireless? i'd prefer that instead so it'll be easier having to setup cables and whatnot from my room to outside.

also, is it possible to hook it up to my tv screen wirelessly? like when im just flipping through the channels and stuff.

They certainly do have wireless cameras with receivers for your TV. You have to remember though, the camera will still have to get power from somewhere.

Newegg is a great place to look for something like this. They normally have great deals
