They're one of the best. They are not going to have all the lights and other worthless adjustments found on other headunits, but they get the job done(very well). The only thing that i don't like about them is the lack of a detachable face.

Well the reason for the lack of detachable faceplate is because of the ESN:eclipse security network: It renders you radio useless to a theft, can be traced back the original owner and what other manufacture will replace your radio ( up to 1 year from date of sale/install) if stolen?

The thing that sucks about ESN is some kid/idiot is gonna smash your window and steal your radio, then not be able to use it or sell it unless you accidentally left your code CD in(which a friend of mine did ) So your windoiw got smashed for nothing, but you know the Jerk can't use it.
Eclipse are though.

What sucks about it.....if its within the 1 year plan...your deck get replaced ( provide a police report, fill out a form get a new radio)no other manufacture does this...you dont have to fight with your insurance company ( if you have full coverage...some do) or be pissed that in addition to getting the window you have gotta get more funds for tunes. And really most sleaze bags now know of this system...who wants to be caught with stolen property anyway...

Amen to that. The average Joe doesn't know what the hell ESN is, all they know is that theres a deck with a face waiting to be snatched.

Eclipse decks are nice and simple. If you don't want the fancy displays and built in processing, eq, xo, time alignment, etc, go for it. I loved my old 5341r before it got stolen.

But the new indash monitors are sweet though.

The one year anti theft gurantee only works if you do NOT make a claim for the radio through your insurance company. If they bust your dash and window, report the loss of the deck and pay your deductible. If your eclipse deck stolen and it is a clean theft and no damage to the rest of the car, you then make the claim though eclipse because if you made your claim through your insurance company you'd still have to pay a deductible.

I've got an eclipse head unit CD5441. It's absolutely awesome in sound quality. Nice and clean, great power output. It rivals the Nakamichis eg 45z.

The ESN is just a gimmick. If a thief breaks into your car and steals your stereo, it's still gone. You just get the satisfaction of knowing that they cant use it. It's still stolen. As if a thief is going to know what the ESN is about to deter them.
