Default Dream system?

Just got a new ITR and looking to upgrade the audio. I was planning on the Alpine CDA 7998 for the headunit. Looking for suggestions for amps and speakers and a subwoofer.

I checked out a local installer and they recommended MBQuart speakers, JL Audio sub and a single 5-channel JL Audio amp. Thoughts?

sounds good but for that type of setup, ie. mbquart alone will run you anywhere between $750-2000 for your interior speakers depending on what series mb quart you go with. So for that whole setup your looking at about $4000 and up easily with custom installation.

I have a Boston Acoustics setup (ProSeries components + ProSeries sub, 2 PPI amps) in an Accord... is MBQuart that much better than Boston Acoustics (price vs. quality)?

Boston Pro components are smooth sounding speakers to me,can't tell you about their sub cuz I've never owned one. MB Quart components are real bright IMO, so it depends on what you like. I myself am running AlumaPro subs and components right now and I love them, SQ all the way!

I have Bostons in my car as well and I feel the same way. The MB's sound a bit harsh in my opinion. The Bostons just sound smoother. But then again I haven't heard any of the new MB stuff. I haven't been into audio for a couple years since my car's sound system was finished. Anyone a proponent of MB? I also think JL Audio is good for subs and either PPI or Soundstream for amps.

a good friend of mine has the mbquarts and they sound really clean. i myself like the diamond components a lot. they sound veryyyy clean and aren't that expensive. i would get the jl subs and a rockford amp. that is my set-up and with 2 jl w3 10's and a RF punch 160 i pushed 152 db. needless to say i won that spl comp. in my class.

I prefer the sound of the bostons over the mb quart (dear lord make the bleeding ears stop...)

As far as subs, everyone knows me as the guy that pushes the infinity perfect cause of its a) great sq in a small sealed enclosure b) good power handling. However, they usually get ragged on because people dont realize that the rms rating on the sub should NOT be exceeded!! People try pushing 500-600watts rms, and blow them easily (actually, its the clipping that kills them the fastest)

Other than that, idmax, eclipse, focal, velodyne, dd, crystal are all nice subs.
