DOOR SPEAKERS???
I just bought a 2006 Navigator couple weeks ago and with my suprise the THX sound system is horrible. I was planning on putting a system in it, but not this soon. Ive owned about 5 cars in my time and have all had a nice system in them....I mean Apline type r doors...jl or kicker subs..ect, but have never owned a car this beautiful and expensive. I want to go big on this one. What door speakers would you guys recommened with what Amp. I was thinking maybe JL doors with JL 450/4????
Thanks,
Sam
Thanks,

Focal, MB Quart, Image Dynamics, CDT Audio ES, Zapco Morel, Helix, DynAudio, with the Focal and MB being favored slightly moreso I've noticed by looking at some people's SQ setups on various SQ-forums.
In an ideal world, go 3-way up front with custom pods/kickpanels, run it active on a Pioneer DEX-P9 ($1200 retail) and the DEQ-P9 DSP/EQ ($800 retail) to go with it. Amps are up to you, Precision Power (PPI) makes decent amps for the money, Zapco makes nice ones as well, Brax, McIntosh, US Amps, Audison, theres many many brands in amps as there are speakers, it kinda comes down to personal tastes but there are some that do perform better or may be a better value. This particualr setup is close to 'all-out' very well over $5,000 but the Sound Quality (SQ) would be pretty astounding. It better be =P Of course this is all somewhat opinion, just my 2 cents here
This is not to say you can't achieve great SQ for less, you can get great SQ from a 2-way component setup, sound deadened, prob for well under $2000 all said and done. The newer navigators are pretty quiet to begin with, but an extra layer of butyl-dedening won't hurt. Don't worry about rear-fill that much, front stage is most important.
Are you going to shoot for SQ or SPL? Or a mix of both? And what's your budget?

I want great Sound Quality in any speaker I invest in. I had a budget like 500-600 for (4) 6 1/5"...Also what do you guys think about the Infinity Kappa 2 way or 3 way?
Thanks,
Sam

You want to spend 600 on just the speakers? 6.5 2 -way components up front and some inexpensive coaxials for the rear fill.
http://www.cdtaudio.com/hd42_cdt4.htm HD-62 would work great for the front (its what I'm going to be running within the next couple days).
If you like brighter highs this: http://www.woofersetc.com/inde...=4195 may be to your liking, you're getting a better value here.
I gotta go to work now I'll chime in later. The Inifinity's aren't bad, but there are other options.

I was thinking around 600 for four speakers....Are the Kappa worth the money? Ive heard them in a car runned by a sprate amp and they were amazing to my ears
Spend more on your front stage. Coaxials will be fine for the rear, all you need is some sound for passangers. You will find it a bit more difficult to get good imaging and SQ if you distract your front stage with a rear-fill or too much rear fill, you may wish to run the rear fill off the HU so you only need to have one 2-ch amp for the front stage, and then your mono amp for the sub-bass. A PPI A800/2 would be good for the front stage, 125Wx2 into 4ohms, about $350 street price. For the sub, you can get a 2ch and bridge it, or you can get a mono amp, Punch P600.1bd 600W at 2ohms for about $300 street. Elemental Designs makes a decent mono amp, the NINe.1x for $365 450@4ohms, 900@2, 1200@1ohm. Are you planning on running more than a couple subs?
The Kappa's are ok for the money, but if you're looking at the Kappa 60.7cs (2-ohm), there are better choices for $299 in my opinion. That MB Quart system I linked above ($299) http://www.woofersetc.com/inde...=4195 would be better that the Kappa's, again my 2 cents.
The install would make a bigger difference than chosing between Kappas, CDT, MB Quart. Deaden the front doors well so your midbass will be its best.

no spend all your money on your front components. dont bother with Infinity's they are only mediocre. look at MB Quart PCE-216s they retail for $500 fantastic for the money.
I sell JL and I honestly would tell you only to bother with the ZX line of components which are out of your price range. Their amps are great though,
PCE-216's are bi-ampable so you could run them with a 300/4, and dynamat the doors. The front speakers in that car are 95% of what you hear sitting in the front so put 100% of your money in 95% of your sound instead of 50% into 95 and 50% into 5.
