does name brand matter??
i had a friend install my equipment and it was done pretty poorly. now that i understand how easy it is i wanna do it over, make it cleaner. but the wires were cut short and ill need new ones. i have monster cables now but that stuff is expensive, does it matter what brand wires i use? if so ill dish out the money otherwise its money i could def use elsewhere
Depends on how high end you want to go. One recommendation I would make is, any wiring you buy, make sure it is 100% oxygen free, and for RCA's, make sure the ends are at least gold plated.
Medium quality wire is a lot better than the cheapest stuff but top quality is not that much better and may not be worth the extra unless your are going into competitions. Get some reasonable quality wire and as long as it looks well made it should go fine.
How soon do you plan on fixing everything? I could throw you an amp kit with all the wiring so you dont have to worry about piecing everything together. Its also usually cheaper then buying everything individually. Let me know what you need (8 guage, 4 guage etc)
Most wire is just wire. If you really wanted to get technical with things, you'd individualy test each brand for the amount of resistance, and it would have to be done in YOUR car to get the most accurate results. The only thing that is really important is the quality of your RCA's. Those are the things you don't want to skip out on quality.
at good guys where they installed my sub, they only use Monster Cable. the guy said he used to work at circuit city for four years, and there they used some tsunami wiring or something. he said, and showed me the monster cable(they had one cut open to show the wires) and they were filled with nice stuff and coiled nicely. he said the tsunami wires were just 2 things twisted, unlike the monster. the cableing was about $40 extra for the Monster though, but I'm sure it made/makes a difference
Monster cable is a lot like Dynamat, it is the only widely sold brand name. It has a monopoly of the distribution network (audio stores) And thus most stores endorse it for that reason. There are better alternitives if you want a custom job cheaper and Really top end try this. (you probably don't have to run as much wire, I ran 6 different wires and still had alot left)

If you want really high quality cables and are willing to dish out some $$....check Transparent cable
sorry there may have been a misunderstanding in my first question. let me start over.
ok well when i put my system in last year the thing around my area was to have the amp on the back of the rear seats, and then drive around with the back seat down, i guess to show off what you got. i know it may sound gay but whatever, thats how it was. well now i could really care less and would just rather have the amp back in the trunk. soooo, my problem is that the power wire and the ground wires are going to be too short. im guessing the rca's you guys are talking about is the wires that go from the back of the cd deck to the amp? well those are in tact and dont need to be replaced, just power and ground. so does brand make a diff for them?
