Default Does an amp make a difference?

So i just recently installed some infinity reference 6.5 speakers in the front doors of my civic along with alpine type g 6x9s in the back. When i turn my music all the way up at the highest/lowest points in songs sometimes my speakers make a beep and cut out. They stop once i turn them down. I have 150hz bass blockers on the front but not the rear speakers. Both are rated for 75 rms but are only getting the power from the headunit. Will an amp solve this problem?

i was told that the bass blockers would help stop with bass distortion? Also do you know of any good cheap 4 channel subs that i could use to run these speakers?

your speakers should be able to get down to 80hz with no problem

unless they're absolute crap

what are the model numbers

go for a 100-120hz high pass on those infinitys

they'll get down to 80 with no problem but will crap themselves once u start to turn the volume up since they aren't that great of a speaker..

that sub would shine decently in a custom built ported box

it would be smarter if u invest your money into your front stage instead of buying a sub

You gotta figure out a budget then go from there...

For now, amp the infinity speakers. If u just change the hu now and don't amp the speakers, you'll run into the same problems since the internal amp just doesn't provide enough power for aftermarket speakers.

once you're done with that, read around various car audio forums such as

http://www.caraudio.com/forum

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/

create a set budget and see what's the best you can get with that given budget.

I would say that because you are turning them up real loud, I would amp the speakers first. Then get either a clarion or an alpine hu.
If you didn't listen to your music so loud as to where you overdrive the hu's internal amp, then you could just get a new hu and be fine.

yeah im looking at getting a kicker zx350.4 it seems to be about the perfect fit. both speakers are 75 rms and this puts out 60 so they will be a little underpowered but its about the best fit i can find. I am considering spending about 200 or so on a headunit you think i will be able to get something nice for that?

As long as you don't turn them up so loud that they continue to "clip" again, you will be fine. If you like you music really loud, I would suggest something with at least 75wrms, like this:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...t_DSC4125.aspx

You can get some very nice hus for 200 nowadays, like the clarion dxz785usb, I have this one and I really like it. I also have the 765, it does not have a usb port but it sounds great as well.
I would search around, some of them may have features you don't want/need.

yeah i feel like after i amp them i will be good with how loud they get. They get pretty loud right now but will clip. Yeah i really would just like a hu that has an aux or the ipod control and 2 outputs for amps. Those are really all i want, A nice eq wouldnt hurt either.

I'll let fcm give you a couple of alpines you can look at too. I'm not familiar with them like he is.

kicker amps only do their rated power @ 14.4 volts

keep that in mind...

the mb quart dsc amps are the best bang for buck amps on the market right now, and maxxsonics will be discontinuing them soon..so pick one up asap

im unfamilar with the quarts. Have you used them before or know anyone that has? i would definately be willing to spend a little more if it actually saved me in the long run. As for the kickers i dont think i will need the whole 60 watts that it will be putting out since that would alot more than my hu is putting out right now.

i've used the 480 and am currently using the 4125

i've got them both benched and they both did a little over rated power

best budget amps out right now imo

and they do their rated power @ 12 volts.

189 for an amp that does 125 x 4 and 500 x 2 bridged cannot be beat.
