Default Disabling Pass to flash switch

I have a bi-xenon HID kit with glare shield in my 98 EL H4 system, it work acceptable. How to I disable the flash to pass switch on the car?

It's a bi-xenon setup, meaning it uses a single hid bulb for high and low beams, it just moves the bulb backwards and forwards instead of turning it on/off. Works fine at night.

During the day, with all headlights off (DRL fuse pulled), the HID's are totally off and they come on accidentally when I make turn signals and pull on the stalk by accident. This causes the HID's to flash on and off quickly which is of course bad for the ballasts and bulbs. How do I disable this, any wires or switches to disconnect?

Because it is a parallel system, [flash to pass draws its power from the same place as the head lights, (white) and supplies power to the high beam output, (red/blue) and it does so internally] you would have to "open" the switch and "break" the input or output to/from the flash to pass switch, it would be a lot easier the learn not to pull on the signal light switch. 94

or you could wire a relay to a side marker or soemthing that doesn't flash but turns on with your headlights... so that way the signal switch doesn't affect that circuit

Thanks guys. I was hoping just to clip of a wire but I kinda knew by the diagrams I'd have to open the combination switch. Anyone done this before? I'm assuming it's just a simple contact trigger and I can cut/destroy once inside.

Good idea on the parking light / sidemarker relay plan, that's my fallback if I can't disconnect the flash to pass trigger, though it would still flash if I have the stalk in the parking lights middle position.

it would only flash if your parking lights flash

you shouldn't wire it to the parkinglights/dashlights cause then the pass to flash still works even if the headlights aren't on

Make sure you add the relay inbetween the combi-switch and the fuse distribution block. Cause if you inturruput the signal from the fuse distribution block, the wattage drawn from that area is much higher, cause of the headlamps.

Wire it like this to an BOSCH SPDT Relay (colors according to supplied diagram)

86 - Ground
85 - Lowbeam ON (RED/WHT)

Intrupt the Highbeam Line
30 - High beam In (RED/BLU)
87 - High beam Out (RED/BLU)

------------------
I don't own a 98..i own a 95.. but the wires could be tapped into at the steering collum.
