Default DECK PROBLEM!!!! No Sound..........

OK. I know my way around Hondas very well.

- I bought a older Kenwood x815 excelon. Made up a wire harness using the kenwood harness and connector to the stock radio plug. good connections, shrinkwrapped and all.

Put in the x815. Works normal EXCEPT I have absolutely NO sound coming out of the speakers. Tried adjusting the settings. But nothing helped.

I then used that same harness I just made and plugged it into my OLD kenwood deck (NOT the x815) and it worked perfect.

If the radio does turn out to be junk, Does anyone know there hands around to fixing the problem? schematics or something for this deck?

Thanks!

make sure that deck has an internal amplifier... some didnt come with them and just had nice quality 4v pre-amp outputs.

it has those preouts. But also says 45x4 on the cover, so i am assuming that would mean it has an internal amp?

did you buy the unit new or used? try checking your wires one more time. if two speaker wires touch, it will short out the internal amp.

how would you go about fixing that internal amp? would you have to send it out to the company, or is there a way to fix it on your own?

you'd have to send it back to the company... it would be cheaper to just throw on a 4-channel amp, or to just replace the deck...

if youre testing it with the radio, is the antenna connected?

If its with CD itshould work then and there..Another thing is to double check that the speaker connections on your pre-fabd wiring harness are still together? maybe they are hooked up wrong...

i say you check the harness, the settings on the deck (make sure that the consarned thing isn't on mute or sumthing), and make sure you didn't fry the deck sum how.

bought it used. previous owner only used it with a amp.
harness is correct. I used the harness i made in my old kenwood and it worked.
antenna was connected, also tried to play a cd. It played but no damn sound, which is the same the antenna is doing.

i wrote this up in another tread too...check all of your speakers and speaker wires, it mite be grounding out somewhere(wire or speaker prongs are touchin another source of metal in your car.) and if that still doesnt work one of your speakers mite be blown, the best way to check is to pull the radio out and individually connect a speaker to each pair of speaker wires(purple/purple black, green/green black, etc..) if your still not getting sound then the deck is bad.

you people dont read do you? damn.

well it sounds like the internal amp is shot. the person who sold it to you might not of taped off the speakers leads and blew em. it would be cheaper to get a 4channel amp then to have it fixed.
