deck installed no sound
like the title states. My friend got a generic deck and i installed it, all he wires ae connected and there is no sound. what cold be the problem. i have checked the fuses on the deck and in the car and they are all fine. TIA
well im guessing the HU turns on and plays and etc so i would jus grab a speaker that u know it works and wire it str8 to the HU to see wut happens
Well I would do what john666 suggests, try a speaker that you know works, disconnect all 8 speaker leads from the cars radio harness, here is a pin out and color code.... http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf.
One more thing, if see didn't have a HU for a month, are you sure she has speakers?

Are thy working?
You can do a simple test, [it will only tell you if you should get sound out of them] with any batt. AA, AAA, C or a 9V , [9V works the best] touch the pos. (+) and neg. (-) speaker leads, [behind the HU] to the batt. pos. and neg., [for this test it does not matter which way you do it, + to + and - to - or reversed + to - and - to +, if the speakers are connected and still capable of making sound, [it will not tell you how good the are or if there is any damage] when you touch the speaker wires to the batt. the speaker will "pop", do that to all 4 sets of speaker wires, if you do not get a "pop" out of one or more of them, the are, 1-not connected, 2- blown, 3- you have a short, you can test for short to ground on one lead by using the batt., ground one term. of the batt. to any ground point, [you can use the oem radio harness ground, black] then one by one touch each of the 8 speaker wires, [pos. and neg.] to the other term. of the batt., if a speaker "pops" you have a short and you need to find it before you hook the HU to that speaker or you may damage the HU, it is what may also be keeping the HU from working, cross your fingers, and hope the HU has a protection circuit in it, otherwise the outputs may be blown on the HU.
