Start looking in the classifieds for used equipment. Remember that you get what you pay for though.

I'm not sure if it is entirely possible with only $400 maximum and the need for professional installation as well.

If you were looking to get a place like BestBuy or Circuit City to install your gear, you would be looking at an estimate of $150-$200 for installation alone. That would leave you $200 to buy an amplifier, subwoofer, front stage, and rear stage (if you choose to).

If I were you, I'd check eBay.

Well you don't need rear speakers at all. I would get a high powered deck and some good front speakers and call it a day. If you had a little more money, I'd recommend a 10 inch sub, an appropriate box, and a small Eclipse 2 CH amp to go along with it. Get some decent RCAs, and use 8 gauge wire.

For decks and speakers, you have a couple of brands to choose from. Eclipse, Alpine, Pioneer, Infinity, Polk. But with amps, you have to get a good brand.
