Default In-Dash Video for del Sol

Just wondering if anyone out there has installed or come across a del Sol with an in-dash DVD player. I'd really like to add video to my car but the current HU placement isn't ideal for this.

1) The shift **** is really close to not allowing the screen enough room to slide out (I'm guessing you'd have to at least be in 2nd/4th/reverse for it to work).

2) The HU sits back in the console to make room for the slide up cover. Since it's not flush with the console, I would think the screen would never be able to go vertical and anyways angle down.

I guess maybe the only good way to do it is by making a custom dash. I'm just hoping that there's a kit out there or something that'll simplify it. If anyone has had success with a motorized flip up display in a del Sol I'd like to here how it works.

Thanks for the help!

Just find a flip-out that has adjustable/extendable "slide", there are a few out there.
The shifter will be an issue, but as you say placing it in 2nd, 4th or rev, would solve that problem. 94

You're a retard... A screen that can extend at all is of no use to anyone with a Del Sol... Please refer to the OP's concern #1. Here. I'll help you.

I just installed a KD-AVX2 in my wife's car (the one that teler86 mentioned). It's really nice but I want one with a 7" screen. Don't need any navigation, but having it as an upgrade would be nice.

Although the shift **** is still a concern, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't matter as long as it's pulled back. I'll look into the ones with adjustable slide. That Kenwood one looks real nice.

just about any flip out screen will work in a del sol
stock shifter must not be in 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear when motoring out or in
angle is always a concern in the sun, but with my clarion the radio cover works perfectly and i can angle it back about 3 degrees and glare was eliminated
I also have a seperate dvd unit under my glovebox in a custom enclosure

ohh yeah
you cant adjust your climate control with the screen flipped out
hope this helps
