Default Custom Enclosure?

I finally heard some 12 inch Type R's, and I decided I want two.

I also want to install them in the left and right "pockets" that you see near the trunk door.

If anyone doesnt understand what I'm talking about, I mean where the left and right part of the trunk near the rear wheel wells dip out. I want to do this to save space, as a regular sub box would be way too big for me.

Will this even be possible? Will it hurt sound?

Why does the box have to be airtight?

How do I know if the air volume is enough? What if it isnt? It blows?

The box has to be airtight, to make the subwoofer sound better. With a non airtight box, your going to have leaks, thus making it sound like crap.

Air volume..... the subwoofer should come with a manual that says the ideal box size. Im predicting the Alpines are probably about a 1-2cubic foot, maybe make a litle fiberglass box that huges the side of the car. If u get to much air space, it could possible blow. If your doing a sealed box..... just do L x W x H /1728.

If the 2 subs are facing eachother on either side of the trunk, are there any problems?

Good luck finding some type R's. Theres not to many left since there discontinued. You should probably research alot more about box's and different types of enclosures to learn more. Me and Crazygsr101 just build a mdf sealed box for one alpine type r 12, and it sounds great. The box is very small also. IF u want i can post up some pics later.

But my subs are going to be a bit angled, so they are directly not facing eachother.

I heard from others that there wouldnt be a problem

For the others that say its not a problem, a few days ago I had a guy come into my shop in an old prelude wanting to know how to get more bass, he said he had two 10" type Rs and 500watts of power, Im thinking that should work, there must be something wrong,so we go and have a look at his setup , two small hatchback boxs in back corners of trunk faceing each other moved them to face up and back behind seat, bingo, got bass? try it , face two subs towards each other a few feet apart ,even out of a car, listen, then angle then away from each other even a little, then tell me its not a problem, trust me I have been installing car audio for 30+ years. 94
