Compare coax to components, please
So, I'm faced with a decision.
I'm putting a basic system in my 98 accord. I was thinking strongly about getting the Phoenix Gold comp6.0 components, which I'm finally convinced would be the easiest fit.
onlinecarstereo.com has them for $75 a pair. pretty damn cheap.

That being said...I'm not so sure that getting a very good simple 6.5" coax wouldn't actually sound better, and be *MUCH* easier to install. (No need to worry about mounting the tweet, or finding a place for the crossover, getting wires into/out of the door grommet, etc.)
I plan to place the tweeter very close to the door speaker anyway.
So, I guess the basic question is... Are these component speakers going to sound better than a good/great coax? Budget is around $150 for the pair.
Just for reference...The other speakers are as follows: no 6x9s in the back at all (current plan), and 2 10" kicker dvc subs in a sealed enclosure in the trunk. I am concerned about where my mid-bass is going to come from...
Thanks
-Kevin

i like seperates in the front of my cars. they have better seperation, and more mid than a coax. if you go with the PG seperates(i have em in my car) you won't disapionted.
I second CarAudioPro on that one... with components (well of course depending on which ones you get), you'll generally have a lot better midbass, which is always a plus with front speakers. If you're really into sound quality, get some components with a strong enough midbass to blend a subwoofer in the back, and you'll be happy.

generally the tweeter will obstruct the path of sound coming from the midrange.
